George Clooney at the Farm.

a little bit of silliness on a rainy day...

Now we only have a small acreage here on our farm...

But our girls are well thought of....

So when it came time to buy a new ram, only the best would to...

We bought them George Clooney... beautiful, well muscled, strong and handsome...

Yesterday we went to another sale to buy the girls Hugh Jackram but unfortunately came home with Justin Beiber-ram....

Now our girls are very discerning...
They were expecting Hugh, as promised, and when Justin jumped out they were less than impressed...

We told them he would grow... there was great potential there... just be patient girls....

We have had very welcome rain here overnight... just perfect for Spring growth...

" And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down.
Without the rain, there would be no rainbow."

Postcards.

Just recently I was involved in a postcard swap organised by the lovely Sheila. I had never made a postcard before but found the whole process fascinating..
Lucky for me my swap partner was Fiona.....
Look what she sent me.....

It's absolutely incredible...
There is a gorgeous little mini quilt which Fiona has foundation pieced and bound, then sewn onto the top of the postcard..
I just love it...love it.... love it....
I could see a series of mini quilts on clothes lines, even little clothes hanging from the tree line...
This will be a treasure for me..... straight to the 'pool room'.....(for those who haven't seen the movie 'THE CASTLE', the pool room holds all the treasures!!

Fiona has received my postcard so I can tell you a little story about that now..

I chose to do some silk ribbon embroidery and beading on an old piece of lace with some satin underneath..

I posted my postcard on the way home from buying a husband for the girls.... a beautiful new ram... and posted the card in a tiny old country store..
It was like walking back in time... the floor boards were old and uncovered, they creaked when you walked on them, and smelt 'old'...
There was a very long counter, with old shelving behind.. the owners had collected biscuit tins from the past and they were on display, along with a sprinkling of 'new' groceries..
There were no lights on, just what light was filtering through the front window...
The man behind the counter didn't feel the weight of the envelope, just said he'd post it... I was so scared that Fiona would be charged extra because someone down the line would feel that it was too heavy!!
So Fiona, if I owe you anything let me know!!!!!

If you get a chance try making a postcard... it's so much fun... the possibilities are endless...
Thank you Sheila for encouraging us to try...

TUESDAY DESIGNING TREASURES.

Today I salute those incredible people, the 'designers', without whom we crafters would  have a huge hole in our lives..
I have a huge collection of craft magazines and one of my favorite past-times is browsing through them and putting book marks in all the  projects which I would love to one day make..
Lately I have had a re-newed interest in making bears and was browsing through my treasured 'Australian Bear Creations', when I came across two bear patterns designed by the wonderful  Melody Daly.

This is 'Emma-Louise'...  a country style bear I made many many years ago from a pattern by Melody... She remains one of my favorites....

This is  'Anna', another  of Mel's creations.. Again, she was made quite a few years ago when bear making was so popular.. She is made of re-cycled fabrics, old lace, stash buttons, and wears a simple antique brooch.

So, on behalf of all the crafters out there, thank you to our wonderful designers... without you all our lives would be less inspirational...

And a huge thank you to the lovely Melody, for her incredible designs, and also for hosting Tuesday Treasures....

Friday Night Sew In.

It's not often that I am able to follow through when I join in the Friday Night Sew In  hosted by Heidi .
However, yesterday I had the afternoon to myself and had a Friday Afternoon Sew In instead..

The little patchwork 'hot pot hen' is a pattern found in an old Handmade magazine.. Vol. 11 No. 6.
It uses up scraps of material and is a really quick project..

I had made one for myself many years ago and it has been on its roost in our old kitchen, and now in our new kitchen..

I took the new little chook on a fun photo shoot..

And along came Ralph...

He really is the most beautiful cat...
In the last shot, he gave up trying to get into the picture, and decided to stalk the galahs which had landed not very far away..

Maxie.

Our beautiful baby grandson has turned four months old..

He has a smile which could melt an iceberg.....

And a chuckle which turns your stomach to mush....

' I just can't quite understand what these crazy adults are talking about... never mind, these fingers are finger lickin' good...'

' Mum, these aren't helping.... got any a little smaller?.....'

' I wonder if I could get my beautiful Auntie Le and Uncle Sparkle interested in cousins for me?.......'

Peaceful Pastures.

We have had the most glorious weather... Beautiful sunny, warm days.... Perfect for farm work...
Not so good for staying inside sewing...
So I thought I may as well share with you something which I see most days as I look out from our farm...

Gentle undulating paddocks full of canola and green pasture.. In another few weeks the canola flowers will drop and the green grass will begin to dry as the hot temperatures come.. But for now, it's so pretty..

How lucky am I?
