It's hot and steamy at the moment here on the farm, and I can't wait until the cool weather of autumn arrives..
We are having a very normal season..... which means 'meals-on-wheels' is very active.....
Around every second day we head out with the oat feeder and dole out a luscious helping of 'treats' to the stock..
They absolutely love them and lick the ground clean...
When it comes to shifting a mob of sheep now, the 'ute' only has to enter the paddock and the stock will follow it anywhere... a bit like the pied piper.....
Feeding out is one of my most favorite jobs.. You get to check the health of your stock every time you see them.... check for weeds... and talk about 'things' while you are together with your partner in the 'ute'...
We do have some decisions to make this year. They will be difficult ones.. How do you get your partner to acknowledge that it may be time to scale down?
It is difficult to look into that loved face and see pain etched in his expression..
It is difficult to see him walk stooped with pain. He doesn't say anything, but what he doesn't know is every action and every expression gives it away...
It is difficult to say it is time to enjoy life a little more....
So, as we make some decisions, and do an awful lot of getting this farm back into 'order', I will take a break from blogging..
So, as I take my break, may your homes be full of love, laughter and happiness.... and may no problem be insurmountable..xxxx

Best wishes for the decisions you are making!
ReplyDeleteEnjoying life seems like such a simple goal, but sometimes it can be hard to make the choices that get you there. Good luck on your journey.
ReplyDeleteI hope your break won't be too long, good luck with dealing with your situation. I hope things get sorted out.
ReplyDeleteDear, sweet friend, know that y'all will be in my daily prayers as you take this time to re-evaluate. I understand that your livlihood is so much a part of who you are and these decisions will be made with much thought and prayer. It sounds like our husbands have some things in common, hard work tops the list. To every thing there is a season...may the road ahead overflow with blessings.
ReplyDeleteDear Rosie take care and the best of luck for your next journey on life's path.xx
ReplyDeleteLots of good wishes to you and your husband. Hard work will always be rewarded, so I hope you enjoy the good things that will come your way. I will certainly miss you in blogland, but hope you will return when the time is right for you.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Nicky

ReplyDeleteBig Hugz
Such a difficult time for you and your husband but it is important to change with your physical age even though mentally we are still young. Seems as though you need to make gradual changes by downsizing rather than looking for a new lifestyle so it is not too much of a shock to the system.
ReplyDeleteBecause we retired early due to some health issues we will have to sell this big house on a beautiful 10 acres in a perfect valley in order to downsize and have funds for the future. I will be very sad to move on from here but I am sure a smaller place will have its benefits as we get older. I wish you all the best with this new challenge and look forward to seeing you blogging in the near future.
Cheers,
Val
Dear Rosie, I have been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing ,I sincerely hope your decisions can be made that will have the least impact on your lives .All the best to you and your hubby and my thoughts will be with you , hope you will be back in blogland before too long. hugs Sheila
ReplyDeleteOh Miss Rosie.... I will miss you! But it sounds like a break is exactly what you both need while you make your life decisions. I know you'll make the right ones.

ReplyDeleteBreaks are needed for sure.
ReplyDeleteMy friend is trying to do the same with her husband. They have got to get rid of the animals and he just won't. It's so hard on her...so hard on him as well. I feel for you. :(
Oh Rosie this must be so hard for you...I'm sure all the right decisions will be made...you never know what's around the corner..Thinking of you xoxo

ReplyDeleteI'm praying for your decisions to be easy to make. And wise for your family. My husband and I just went through the same thing. We had to decide if we would stay in business again this year. We decided to stay in, but it was so tough to decide. God Bless you and your husband. (Enjoy your blog free time. See you when you come back!)
ReplyDeleteHi Rosie. Strange word this "warm weather" this time of year. Here, in Paris, we have minus degrees in the nights, but hopefully no more snow.
ReplyDeleteHope you'll be back blogging soon and that your decisions in life will work out well....
See you - hugs Anne Lise
Just wanted to let you know that I have nominated you for a Liebster Award. Some people aren't all that keen on awards so I hope you don't mind but I thought you were a worthy recipient

ReplyDeletelily xx
missing you Rosie........hope things are ok.............
ReplyDeleteRosie, I can relate to what you're going through. It's not easy convincing our partners to take it easy, downsize, etc. We're currently going through this ourselves but, thank goodness, my fella has finally acknowledged that downsizing and slowing down is not giving up but finding different ways to enjoy life. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteGood day! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which
ReplyDeleteblog platform are you using for this website?
I'm getting tired of Wordpress because I've had issues with hackers and I'm looking at options for another platform. I would be great if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
